Halibut Allocation Case

Help Support Fair Access to Fisheries in BC

The B.C. Wildlife Federation (BCWF) and Sport Fishing Institute (SFI) are working together and have been granted responder status in a ground-breaking court case launched by a group of commercial halibut quota holders who oppose DFO's decision to increase the allocation to the recreational sector from 12% to 15%.

The court action has just finished after 3 days of presentation and debate.  We won’t know the outcome until the judge writes his decision early in the New Year. In the meantime, BCWF and SFI need your support right away.

The Memorandum and Fact of Law that the recreational sector provided, as prepared by Chris Harvey, Q.C., as argument during the proceedings has been posted– please click here to read or download a copy.

As joint respondants in this case, BCWF and SFI both committed to evenly splitting the legal costs of our participation. Your support through a donation is greatly appreciated and will help to offset the significant costs associated with our Respondant Status in this important case.

All donations over $20.00 will be issued a tax deductible receipt.
