2016 Go Wild! Youth for Conservation, Mission B.C., August 13-21!

Go Wild! Youth for Conservation wrapped up in Mission on August 21, 2016. Thank you to the Mission & District Rod & Gun Club for hosting this year's camp.

The camp ran smoothly and was once again a great success. We had a great bunch of youth join us throughout the week and partake in a lot of fun outdoor activities, while learning to be environmental stewards in their community.

The children had a blast learning about endangered species in the area and going on a hike led by conservation biologist Pamela Zevit. They learned to filet fish with the British Columbia Federation Of Drift Fishers, before heading to a fishing lesson at the Fraser Valley Trout Hatchery. The group reasoned out how to deal with environmental, ethical dilemmas and came up with new ways to reduce waste. Working with Mission Adopt-a-block, they cleaned up a section of Dewdney Trunk Road near the Mission Rod and Gun Club.  A favorite day of the group was the trip to Harrison Lake, as well as the day on the ranges trying out archery and various firearms.

Thank you to everyone who participated, and volunteered their time and expertise!

If you are interested in a Go Wild! workshop being held in your area, please let your local member club know and have them contact us for more information.
